    Staff Sgt. Guy Lemmons, a water survival instructor, guides a recruit of Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, off a 10-foot tower July 21, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. This part of water survival qualification simulates abandoning a ship and swimming to safety. Water survival qualification, one of eight graduation requirements includes swimming 25 meters, leaping from a 10-foot tower and shedding combat equipment while underwater.
