The Honorable Liliana Ayalde, U.S. Ambassador to Brazil, speaks with Lieutenant Gen. Ronald L. Bailey, deputy commandant of United States Marines Corps, and Rear Adm. Frank L. Ponds, commander of Expeditionary Strike Group 3, during a reception in the hangar bay of the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) at Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Aug. 7, 2014. The reception was hosted by the Sailors and Marines of USS America and Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South for Brazilian diplomats and military officials. The evening of food, music and dancing concluded with speeches from Adm. Ponds and Ambassador Ayalde. America is currently on her maiden transit, “America Visits the Americas”.
