U.S. and Brazilian Marines celebrate the conclusion of a counter improvised explosive device course with the tradition of "moving the earth" on Marambaia Island, Aug. 6, 2014. Doing pushups to “move the earth” is traditionally conducted at the completion of every training event for the Brazilian Marines. The counter IED course was conducted by U.S. and Brazilian Marines in conjunction with a combat tracking course as part of a theater security cooperation bi-lateral exchange. Through close cooperation, the U.S. and its partners are ready to address transnational security challenges through integrated and coordinated approaches.
