Donald R. Schregardus, the deputy assistant secretary of the Navy (Environment) and a native of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, presented a Secretary of the Navy Environmental Awards to Alicia Filzen, the winner for individual environmental quality, at the Officers’ Club aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Aug. 8. Filzen, a native of Jamestown, South Carolina, managed the Quality Recycling Program aboard the base and coordinated outreach events that led to an increased awareness of environmental issues.
