U.S. Army Spc. Pearse Goodman, 1782nd Engineer Company, uses a hydraulic cutter/spreader to cut through the front post during training, Aug. 16, 2014. U.S. Army Gen. Frank J. Grass, chief, National Guard Bureau and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Robert E. Livingston, Jr., S.C. National Guard adjutant general, were on hand to see the training as the engineers were fielding newly acquired equipment and conducting lane clearance. The visit included a tour of McEntire Joint National Guard Base and McCrady Training Center in Eastover, S.C., where Grass talked with commanders about all of the benefits the S.C. National Guard brings to the state and nation. The visit was also an opportunity for Grass to visit with troops in the field and get to know their training and experience.
