A memorial service was held, Feb. 13, on Forward Operating Base Marez in Mosul, Iraq, for four Soldiers and an interpreter that were killed when a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle, Feb. 9. Among the fallen was Lt. Col. Gary Lt. Col. Derby, the commanding officer of 3rd Bn., 8th Cav. Reg., 3rd Heavy Bde. Combat Team, 1st Cav. Div.
