Sgt. Charles Nickles of Hillsboro, Ore., a tuba player with the U.S. Army Europe Band & Chorus, Excelsior Brass Quintet, performs near Trakai Castle on Lake Galvė in Trakai. “One of our major functions is being U.S. ambassadors to Europe,” said Lt. Col. Bruce Pulver, USAREUR Band & Chorus commander. “Because of that we have a lot of outreach, especially here in the Baltic regions.” A dynamic and versatile group, the Excelsior Brass Quintet performs a broad spectrum of music, such as classical and jazz, as well as traditional military marches. The ensemble performs at functions ranging from official military ceremonies to local community concerts throughout Europe. (U.S. Army Photo by: Staff Sgt.
