Chief Warrant Officer Steve Pelon, assigned to the Navy’s Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV), inspects the material condition of inflatable MK-1 life preservers aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42). INSURV inspections occur every five years to insure mission readiness. Germantown is forward-deployed and currently underway in the U.S. 7th Fleet area or responsibility.
