The U.S. Ambassador to Chile Michael Hammer speaks to Chilean media during a press conference held on the flight deck of the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) in Valparaiso, Chile, Aug. 24, 2014. The media were given the opportunity to speak with the senior leadership of America, Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South and Expeditionary Strike Group 3, too. America moored in Valparaiso for a scheduled port visit to conduct key leader engagements with distinguished visitors, give tours showcasing the capabilities of SPMAGTF-South and the ship and host an evening reception emphasizing the imperative of partnership and cooperation between the U.S. naval forces and Chile.
