Formations of Marines with Marine Air Control Squadron 1, based at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., stand at parade rest during MACS-1’s 71st birthday ceremony at MCAS Yuma’s Cannon Air Defense Complex, Friday, Aug. 29, 2014. MACS-1’s lineage began as the first Marine Air Command and Control System unit on Sept. 1, 1943, at MCAS Cherry Point, N.C. On June 26, 1998, MACS-1 and MACS-7 consolidated to form MACS-1, and the squadron headquarters was relocated to its present home in Yuma.
