A Japanese CH-47 Chinook, assigned to the 34th Infantry Regiment, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, executes landing procedures during the Shizuoka Disaster Drill Aug. 31 in the Shizuoka prefecture. The helicopter is used to move JGSDF members and U.S. Marines quickly in the event of a disaster. The Shizuoka Disaster Drill is a semi-annual exercise conducted by the Shizuoka Prefectural Government. The drill is used to prepare all emergency personnel for an earthquake in the Shizuoka prefecture and the possible tsunami which may follow.
