The 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain) concluded it’s Esprit de Corps hike of the entire length of the Long Trail at the summit of Mount Mansfield with a 9/11 memorial service to pay respect to the victims of 9/11 and to Vermont’s fallen service members in Stowe, Vt., Sept. 11, 2014. Units from the 86th IBCT (MTN) hiked sections of the 272 miles of the Long Trail and completed the trek in less than six days. Esprit de Corps is a feeling of pride, fellowship and common loyalty shared by members of a group. This Esprit de Corps hike ended by laying dog tags for each service member on a set of skis on the final mountain for their final climb.
