From Sunday, Sept. 14 to Wednessday, Sept. 17, Soldiers from Southern Regional Medical Command competed in the Best Medic Competition. The winners of the regional command competition will go on to participate in the U.S. Army Best Medic Competition at Camp Bullis in San Antonio, Texas. The competition is both physically and mentally challenging and is set a grueling 72-hour pace. The participants must show proficiency in a Physical Fitness Test, land navigation, rifle and pistol marksmanship, combat trauma lanes, a written exam and 12-Mile Road march. Soldiers from Brook Army Medical Center (Fort Sam Houston, Texas), Darnall Army Medical Center (Fort Hood, Texas), Eisenhower Army Medical Center (Fort Gordon, Ga.), Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (Fort Campbell, Ky.), Martin Army Community Hospital (Fort Benning, Ga.) and Moncrief Army Community Hospital (Fort Jackson, S.C.) all participated in the event. The winners of this year's Southern Regional Command Best Medic Competition were 1st Lt. Brian Dulzo and Pfc. Garrett Woodford from Brooke Army Medical Center.
