An MV-22 Osprey, attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 163 (Reinforced), lifts an AV-8B Harrier jet engine from the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) for transport to the Military Sealift Command dry cargo/ammunition ship USNS Amelia Earhart (T-AKE 6) during a replenishment-at-sea. Makin Island is the flagship of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed in support of maritime and theater security operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
