Commissioned in 1991, cutter Jefferson Island was the 40th of the 110-foot Island Class patrol cutters to join the Coast Guard fleet and will be replaced by Cutter Ocracoke, also a 110-foot Island Class patrol cutter, currently home-ported in Florida.
