Gunnery Sgt. Charles Maddox hits a softball in a service member vs. local residents softball game Sept. 21 on Tinian during a day off from the Valiant Shield 2014 exercise. The purpose behind the game was to build camaraderie between local residents and service members. Maddox is the expeditionary air field staff noncommissioned officer in charge, with Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
