Staff Sgt. Phillip Daniels, 49th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Protection Flight firefighter, performs routine user maintenance on the new P-34 Rapid Intervention Vehicle at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., Sept. 21. The RIV is three times more cost effective than the conventional firefighting vehicles. The combination of water and firefighting foam discharges at 1,350 pounds per square inch and increases the length of time that the RIV can remain on scene without having to be resupplied. Even though the RIV has a smaller capacity of 500 gallons, it has the firefighting capability of the larger 1,500 to 1,750 gallon vehicle at a cost that is significantly less.
