Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104) fires the five-inch cannon during a live fire exercise, known as Pacific Fire (PACFIRE), measuring the maintenance and readiness of the weapons system. Sterett is underway as part of the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group. Carl Vinson and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, are on deployment in the 7th Fleet area of operations supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
