Marines with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), participate in close quarters tactics drills in the well deck of the USS Makin Island, Sept. 25. The purpose of the training was to hone weapons handling skills and rapid response techniques. The 11th MEU is deployed with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve and crisis response force throughout U.S. Central Command and the U.S 5th fleet area of responsibility.
