Rear Adm. Joseph Kilkenny, Commander, Naval Education and Training listens to Cmdr. Kenneth Coleman, executive officer, USS Independence (LCS 2), discuss LCS capabilities during Kilkenny's visit to the ship to see first hand the second littoral combat ship delivered to the Navy. LCS is a new breed of U.S. Navy warship with versatile war fighting capabilities, capable of open-ocean operation, but optimized for littoral, or coastal, missions.
