Capt. Fernandez Frank Ponds, mission commander of Continuing Promise 2008, embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), presents Alicia Norton with a certificate of appreciation at the closing ceremony of the Santa Rosa medical site. Norton paddled her canoe two and half hours daily to volunteer with the Continuing Promise 2008 team. Kearsarge is supporting the Caribbean phase of Continuing Promise, an equal partnership mission between the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Brazil, Nicaragua, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.
