USS Constitution Commanding Officer Cmdr. Timothy Cooper and Guest of Honor Michael Jackson hang a wreath during Old Ironsides’ Aug. 19, 2009, commemoration of the War of 1812 battle with HMS Guerriere. Jackson is a direct descendent of Marine Lieutenant William Sharp Bush, who lost his life during that engagement and was the first Marine officer to die in service to our country. The ceremony commemorating the 197th anniversary of Old Ironsides’ battle with HMS Guerriere also celebrated USS Constitution’s nickname
