U.S. Navy Quartermaster Seaman Norvell Thomas, aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) in the Persian Gulf June 21, 2014, gauges the distance with a laser range finder between two ships, during replenishment at sea with the fleet replenishment oiler USNS Big Horn (T-AO 198). The Gunston Hall is part of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, and with the embarked 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, was deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
