Dr. Daniel M. Thys, president of the Navy League New York council, presents Vice Adm. Mel Williams Jr., Commander, Second Fleet with a gift at the New York Athletic Club during a ceremony honoring the commanding officers and flag officers present for Fleet Week New York City 2009. Approximately 3,000 Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen will participate in the 22nd commemoration of Fleet Week New York City 2009. This week-long event will provide citizens of New York City and the surrounding tri-state area an opportunity to meet service members and also see the latest capabilities of today's maritime services.
