Maj. Gen. H. Stacy Clardy III, right, and Sgt. Maj. Paul G. McKenna stand at attention during a cake cutting ceremony Sept. 16 as part of the 3rd Marine Division’s 72nd anniversary on Camp Hansen. After the guest of honor ate the first piece of cake, the youngest and oldest Marines in the unit received a piece symbolizing the passing of tradition from older to younger generations. After the cake cutting ceremony, Clardy gave closing remarks honoring the division’s storied history. Clardy is the commanding general of the 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
