Rct. Erielle Hankins, Platoon 4042, Oscar Company 4th Recruit Training Battalion, falls into a pond on the Confidence Course Oct. 1, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. The obstacle requires recruits to slide down a rope in three different positions without falling into the pond beneath. The course is comprised of 15 obstacles designed to help Marine Corps recruits build confidence by overcoming physical challenges. Hankins, 18, from Cary, N.C., is scheduled to graduate Dec. 5, 2014.
