Gary North, 9th Air Force and U.S. Air Forces Central commander, unfurls the 504th Expeditionary Air Support Operations Group guidon flag during the unit's assumption of command ceremony at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, March 30. The 504th unit designation was reactivated after more than 30 years when it was a tactical air support group in 1972. Under the new group, Col. James Thomas leads more than 125 air liaison officers, tactical air controllers and combat weather Airmen deployed throughout Afghanistan.
