North Carolina National Guard Chaplain, Maj. Melissa Culbreth, sits on the front porch at Serenity Grace Farm on Oct. 12 while friends braid her hair in preparation to have her head shaved at a party in her honor. Culbreth, who is the brigade chaplain for the 449th Theater Aviation Brigade, recently started chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer for a third time and wanted to take her hair on her own terms before she lost it as a side effect of the chemo.
