Sailors attached to Helicopter Squadron 23 in North Island, California, install an auxiliary power unit on an MH-60S helicopter in the hangar bay of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). Makin Island is the flagship of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and, with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th fleet area of responsibility.
