Airman Anthony Morris, of North Port, Fla., points out the steps for turning on all of a helicopter's electronics systems in the proper order to fellow classmates in the Coast Guard's Aviation Electronics Technician "A" School, Airman Basil Stowe (left), of Northport, Mich., and Airman Mitchell Brown, of Beaufort, S.C., March 18, 2014. The 56-week AET school, one of three Class "A" Schools at ATTC that provide initial rate-specific training, teaches students entry-level ability to inspect, service and maintain a wide variety of aircraft electrical, communication, navigation, auto flight and sensor avionics systems. In the third phase of the school, which lasts seven weeks, students learn about avionics and navigation systems. Following graduation, AETs may be assigned to either rotary or fixed-wing aircraft, where they might fill aircrew positions including navigator, flight mechanic, radio operator, sensor systems operator or basic aircrewman.
