Sgt. Maj. Irvin Howard, sergeant major of 1st Marine Corps District, expresses his excitement in taking on the task of maintaining and improving the 1st MCD success during the sergeant major relief and appointment ceremony at the Cradle of Aviation Museum Oct. 30. Samuel Heyward, the previous sergeant major for the 1st MCD, was selected to be the sergeant major of Marine Corps Recruiting Command.
