Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, take part in a Fallen Soldier Remembrance Ceremony to honor Latvian soldiers who gave their lives during Operation Enduring Freedom at Adazi Training Area, Latvia, on Nov. 7, 2014. U.S. soldiers participated in the event to honor their Latvian brothers-in-arms who fought alongside U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Each soldier placed a candle at the base of a memorial to Latvian soldiers in remembrance of those who have fallen. These activities are part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
