The Adjutant General of the Georgia National Guard Jim Butterworth discusses next steps in improving responses for winter weather emergencies with GEMA director Charlie English, Monday, at the agency’s headquarters. The Georgia National Guard was an integral part of relief efforts during the 2014 winter storms. As a precursor to preparedness GEMA is hosting a two day joint winter exercise will to pre-coordinate efforts and involves 16 state agencies, numerous utility and private sector firms and nearly 700 individual service assets. “Georgia’s National Guard is one of our go-to assets for our agency,” English said.
