A Michigan National Guard U.S. color guard marches behind Swedish and Norwegian color guards during a pass-in-review in front of the president of Latvia, Andris Bērziņš, in Riga, Latvia, as part of the ceremonies marking the 96th year of the country's independence Nov. 18, 2014. Latvia is the NATO partner state for the Michigan Army National Guard as part of the NATO alliance and has trained with the Latvians in the past. Also in the parade were soldiers from Company A, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, as well as other NATO partners.
