Sgt. Bryanna Kessler, a finance technician with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is brought back up from the water after her water submersion baptism in the well deck aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Nov. 21. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and the embarked 11th MEU provide a versatile, sea-based, expeditionary force that can be tailored to a variety of missions in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
