CAMP GONSALVES, Japan – Samuel C. Mills, from Lawrenceville, Georgia, crosses a river obstacle Nov. 25 while going through the Jungle Warfare Training Center’s endurance course on Camp Gonsalves. “The endurance course is used to build camaraderie and small unit leadership,” said Mills. “The course forces squads to work together or else they will completely fall apart.” Mills is a fire support man with 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
