Service members assigned to Joint Forces Command – United Assistance wear uniforms treated in insect repellent while unloading bags at Barclay Training Center, Monrovia, Liberia, Dec. 3, 2014. In addition to the uniforms, precautionary measures like spraying insect repellent and eliminating standing pools of water are put in place to prevent breeding grounds for mosquitoes, which carry malaria. Operation United Assistance is a Department of Defense operation in Liberia to provide logistics, training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for International Development-led efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in western Africa.
