3rd Brigade Combat Team Commander COL Dana J.H. Pittard awards SPC Steven K. Menard, a cavalry scout with the 3rd Brigade Reconnaissance Troop, the Army Commendation Medal with Valor. The medal was awarded for his actions during the battle of Buhritz on June 17 during a ceremony held Oct. 16 at forward operating base Warhorse in Baqubah, Iraq. Menard, a native of Springfield, Mass., is deployed to Iraq with the 1st Infantry Division in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.
