    Lt. Gen. Clyde A. Vaughn, director of the Army National Guard, shakes hands with retired Mag. Gen. Vaughn, who enlisted in the Missouri Army National Guard in July 1969, has served as director of the Army Guard since 2005 and was responsible for overhauling recruiting and retention and increasing readiness levels within the Army Guard as well as many other initiatives. "It's been a marvelous ride," he said, during the ceremony where he was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Missouri state Meritorious Service Medal as well as numerous other awards and recognitions.
