The USS New York leads the USS Fort McHenry across the Atlantic Ocean, Dec. 19, 2014. The ships are part of the USS Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group, which carries approximately 2,400 Marines and Sailors of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The 24th MEU and Iwo Jima ARG deployed last week as a flexible, sea-based force tasked with providing crisis response across the range of military operations, from armed conflict to humanitarian assistance.
