John Hersey High School (JHHS) staff members feature a ginger bread house that was made during a fundraiser to build a home for Army veteran, retired Sgt. Jason Smith. Smith lost both his legs during an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion on his 2012 deployment to Afghanistan, Dec. 19.
Smith was invited to JHHS to be honored and presented with a ceremonial check representing the $18,000 that was raised to build a home for him and his family.
