The Marines were conducting aerial reconnaissance training in support of joint terminal attack controllers with 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion. Pohl and Franceschini are both unmanned aerial vehicle operators with Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 2. Matthews is an unmanned aerial system commander with the squadron and is native to Beverly Hills, Fla. Pohl is a native of Two Rivers, Wis., and Franceschini is a native of Pittsburgh.
