Petty Officer 1st Class Denis Butierries, places a unit ball cap on his son Jacob after it was presented by Cmdr. Michael Gesele, Coast Guard Cutter Rush executive officer in Honolulu Dec. 23, 2014. Jacob’s mother Lori and sister Abby also accompanied Jacob on a tour of the Rush. Six-year-old Jacob was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy when he was four months old and was given between four months and one year to live.
