The head stone of Pvt. Barney B. Bowden, the great-uncle of U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Robert Bowden, an infantryman with SPMAGTF-Crisis Response- Africa, at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Normandy, France, Dec. 27, 2014. Marines and Sailors from SPMAGTF-Crisis Response-Africa visited Normandy to learn more about the history behind D-Day, including the invasion timeline, tactics, routes used by the soldiers. The cemetery is the final resting place for over nine thousand Americans who sacrificed their lives during the D-Day invasion and the following military operations of World War II.
