Marine Corps Cpl. Todd C. Bristol, of Shakopee, Minn., and Lance Cpl. Craig D. Thomas of Grand Forks, N.D., observes the chamber of an M2 .50 caliber machine gun. During Exercise AFRICAN LION 2009, these Marines, along with their Moroccan counterparts, fired M-240Gs and M-2 .50 caliber machine guns that were mounted on M-1151 hummvees. The annually scheduled, combined U.S.-Moroccan exercise is designed to improve interoperability and mutual understanding of each nation's tactics, techniques and procedures and is scheduled to run until June 4.
