USS Constitution crew member Petty Officer 2nd Class, Tony Barnardo, aviation electrician's mate, clips a safety harness onto the foremast topsail yard aboard USCG Barque Eagle while climbing the rigging. Barnardo is one of five "Old Ironsides" Sailors aboard the three-masted barque as it on its 3,149 miles voyage along the from New London, Conn., to Rota, Spain. Originally commissioned Horst Wessel in the German Navy in 1936, she was recommissioned USCG Eagle in 1947, and her permanent crew of 55 Coast Guard Sailors are joined by hundreds of cadets and officer candidates for sail training every year.
