Maj. Michael J. Swienton, the Pack 69 cubmaster, or senior pack leader, “interviews” Wolf Scout Allen Jarvis from the “pit” during the Pack 69 Pinewood Derby held Jan. 24 at Vogelweh Elementary School. In addition to his administrative roles, the versatile Wisconsin native served as emcee and “roving reporter,” conducting “Laugh Olympics”-style question-and-answer sessions to inspire analysis, constructive thought and presentation skills between heats. Some Scouts attributed their success to advanced aerodynamics or interstellar inspiration while others candidly acknowledged their parents’ role in familial automotive endeavors.
