Command Sgt. Maj. Demetrius Brown, senior noncommissioned officer, DHHB, 1st Inf. Div., delivered the keynote address during the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance Jan. 19 at the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Oasis stage at Camp Buehring, Kuwait. Brown told the crowd of more than 300 Soldiers that King was a Baptist minister and social activist who played a key role in the American civil rights movement from the mid 1950s until his assassination in 1968.
