Marines inspect a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter before it takes off Jan. 24 at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Yamaguchi, Japan. Four CH-53E helicopters stopped to refuel at MCAS Iwakuni on the way to Misawa Air Base from Okinawa, Japan. The helicopters are on their way to support Exercise Forest Light 15-2. Forest Light is a routine, semiannual exercise to strengthen U.S. and Japan military relations. The Marines and helicopters are with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 465, Marine Aircraft Group 16, currently assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
