Sgt. Cassie Guerrero from Headquarters Support Company, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) discusses patient evaluation procedures with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) medics and doctors so both medical teams can provide combined treatment of simulated injures as part of the practical field exchange (PFE) during the 2015 Pacific Resilience Disaster Management Exchange (DME) on Jan. 18 at Macun Barrack in Haikou, Hainan Province, People’s Republic of China. The DME is designed to maximize hands-on, side-by-side interaction with the PLA on Humanitarian Assistance (HA) and Disaster Relief (DR) operations and enable sharing of lessons learned. The DME utilized the scenario of a fictional third country suffering from the effects of a typhoon, including major flooding in residential areas. (U.S. Army photo by Maj.
